The Ballard Bomber football team lost their home opener to Carroll 9-7 on Friday night at Richard Strouse Stadium. The Bombers would strike first on the night with their only touchdown on an 80-yard drive capped off by a 1-yard Skyler Noftsger run. The Tigers would cut in to the lead on a 26-yard field goal by Max Neu to cut the deficit to 7-3. The Tigers would score with six minutes left in the fourth quarter on a Colby Vincent touchdown pass to Jang Jioklow on a slant pattern for a touchdown and a Tiger's 9-7 win. Logan Harmeyer had 10 tackles for the Bombers. Conner Drew rushed for 50 yards on 13 carries to lead the Bomber's offense.
With the loss, the Bombers fall to 1-1 (0-0) on the season.
The Bombers are back in action on Friday - September 7 when they host Dallas Center-Grimes in non-district action. The freshman game will kick off at 4:45 PM and the varsity will kick off at 7:30 PM. The little cheerleaders will perform around 7:00 PM before the varsity game.
