The Ballard football team defeated Winterset 32-31 in overtime on Friday night which would be considered an instant classic. With the Bombers up late in the fourth, Winterset would score to tie up the game at 24. Winterset would take the ball first in overtime and would score in three plays to take a 31-24 lead. The Bombers wasted no time in their session of overtime and scored in two plays. Down 31-30 pending the extra point, the Bombers went for a two point conversion and converted it to take the 32-31 victory and finish the non-district portion of their schedule at 3-1.
With the win, the Bombers improve to 3-1 (0-0) on the season.
The Bombers are back in action on Friday - September 21 when they host Gilbert for Homecoming in their district opener. The freshman game will kick off at 4:45 PM and the varsity will kick off at 7:30 PM.
