Bomber Harriers Finish 2nd At Saydel Invite

The men's cross country team finished 2nd at the Saydel Invitational Meet on Thursday.  Jace Beall led the Bombers with a time of 17:44 good enough for a 6th place finish.  Gage Long finished 8th for the Bombers with a time of 17:52.68 followed by Nathan Wuestenberg who finished 9th in a time of 17:52.97.

Comments From Head Coach Scott Barth:

"Much like the girls, we ran really well on the guys side also.  Jace Beall ran the best race of his career finishing 6th overall in a time of 18:04.  Zane Charter followed suit with his personal record in a time of 18:18.  They were followed closely by Chase Winterboer (18:32), Carter Thompson (18:34) and Gage Long (18:53) to close out our scorers.  Owen Zunkel (19:27) and Seth Wohlgemuth (19:32) closed out our varsity line-up."
"The boys ran another good race tonight at Saydel. Jace, Gage and Nathan all ran sub-18 minute runs and placed in the top 10 at 6th, 8th and 9th. Jack Chism and Dante Jones were next two runners in the meet placing 17th and 24th with PR's. It was Dante's first chance at varsity level competition and I am extremely pleased with his run. Chase Winterboer and Zane Charter rounded out or varsity runners placing 28th and 45th overall."

"We decided to rest Ryan and Erik Ledet (2 of our top 4 runners) for this meet in preparation for next Tuesday's conference meet.  They have some lingering issues and the rest will hopefully help them be ready for next week.  Having those two in the line-up most likely would have given us the team victory, but we are focused on a quality finish at the conference and regional meets in the next two weeks.  We have potential to do good things."

"The JV Men ran what could be our best race of the night missing out on a perfect score by 1 spot.  Chris Lee ran an excellent race and might just have earned himself his first varsity race at conference meet on Tuesday.  Seth Wohlgemuth (2nd), Carter Thompson (3rd), Conner Hill (5th) and Obi Soash (6th) wrapped up scoring.  The JV men were dominating tonight and ran with lots of confidence and strength.  They actually would have beaten half of the varsity teams at tonight's meet."

The Bombers are back in action on Tuesday, October 9 when they compete at the Raccoon River Conference Meet at Ballard.  The meet will feature the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity and will start at 4:00 PM.
