Comments From Head Coach Scott Barth:

"The women ran a very consistent race.  Over the course of the last 3-4 meets, we have developed from a good team to a very good team.  We are competing at a high level which allowed us to handle a very solid #4 Heelan team that returned most of their team that finished 6th at state meet 2017.  We also defeated #14 ranked LeMars and #15 ranked Spencer."

"#12 ranked Ellie Twedt continued to lead Ballard with a runner-up finish to Gidel of Humboldt who is currently ranked #5 in the state 3A individual rankings.  She also beat four other ranked runners to claim her spot.  #19 Caitlin Maher continued her upward ascent finishing 5th overall.  Brooke Loewe ran an excellent race finishing 9th and Rachel Wohlgemuth completed our individual state qualifiers with her 12th place finish.  Meg Rietz narrowly missed qualifying individually with a 16th place finish to close out scoring.  Josie Fleischmann and Hailey Cole closed out varsity for us finishing 24th and 26th overall."

"We are running really well right now and our confidence is growing.  We will take the next nine days to fine tune and hopefully make a run at the state meet.  With the development of Ellie and Caitlin as top runners in 3A and a extremely solid pack following them, we should competitive with the other teams in the field.  These girls are mentally tough and have been competing better and better.  It's exciting to see."

The Bombers are back in action on Saturday, October 27 when they compete at the state meet in Fort Dodge.  The meet will start at 11:00 AM with the 3A women running at 12:00 PM.
