Bomber's Bats Go Cold In 3-Game Stretch
Webster City, Grinnell Defeat Ballard
The Ballard baseball team's bats went silent in a three game stretch on Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, the Bombers fell to Webster City 3-1. The Bombers only had three hits on the night. Jaren Njos was 1 for 2 and had a double with an RBI on the night. Jacob Ross went five innings giving up seven hits and one run.
On Friday, the Bombers hosted Grinnell in a varsity doubleheader. The Bombers dropped the first contest 6-2. Jaden Peasley started for the Bombers. He went five innings giving up four runs and striking out two. Eli Rouse, Jayden Cattell, and Colby Calvert each had two hits in the game.
In the nightcap, the Bombers fell 1-0. The Tigers would push the lone run in the second inning and Grinnell's Will Doty pitched a complete game allowing four hits and had five strike outs. Bryce Haessig went six innings for the Bombers, allowed three hits, and struck out five.
With the losses, the Bombers fall to 1-3 (0-0) on the season.
The Bombers are back in action on Monday, May 23 when they travel to Bondurant-Farrar for their Raccoon River Conference opener. The junior varsity and varsity will play starting at 5:30 PM.
