Ballard Baseball Wins Four of Five
Improves to 5-2 on the Season
The Ballard Bombers put together an impressive stretch of baseball over the past week, winning four of their last five games to improve to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
After opening the stretch with a loss at Webster City, Ballard responded with victories over Des Moines Christian, Center Point-Urbana, Boone, and Grinnell. The Bombers showcased resilience, timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and strong pitching as they continued building momentum early in the season.
Webster City Hands Ballard a Setback
Webster City defeated Ballard 12-2 in the opening game of the stretch.
The Bombers collected five hits, including doubles from Ethan Rouse and RBI singles from Evan Kinzenbaw and Bryce Miller. Jake Clement and Jack Plucar each scored a run.
Despite jumping on the board early, Ballard could not slow down a Webster City offense that finished with 14 hits.
Walk-Off Magic Against Des Moines Christian
One of the most exciting games of the season came when Ballard rallied for a dramatic 7-6 victory over Des Moines Christian.
Trailing 6-3 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Bombers scored four runs to complete a walk-off comeback.
Freshman Ben Clement played a major role, scoring three runs while collecting a triple and drawing two walks. Evan Kinzenbaw delivered the biggest hit of the game, driving in three runs. Sid Farmer added two hits, including a triple and an RBI.
Bryce Miller gave Ballard quality innings on the mound, striking out five, while Ethan Rouse and Jake Clement combined to close out the victory.
Split with Center Point-Urbana
The Bombers dropped a hard-fought 8-7 contest before bouncing back in dominant fashion the next day.
In the opener, Ballard erased multiple deficits and scored three runs in the sixth inning to tie the game before Center Point-Urbana pushed across the winning run in the seventh.
Ben Clement collected two hits, Stetson Kane added a double and RBI, and Evan Kinzenbaw drove in three runs. Ballard was aggressive on the bases, swiping 12 stolen bases in the contest.
The rematch belonged entirely to the Bombers.
Ballard rolled to a 12-2 victory behind a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching from Jake Clement. The sophomore allowed just three hits and two runs over five innings to earn the win.
The Bombers scored in four different innings and piled up eight hits while drawing eight walks. Stetson Kane provided the biggest swing with a three-run home run, while Sid Farmer tripled and scored twice. Bryce Miller added a double and RBI, and Ethan Rouse reached base three times and scored three runs.
Ballard also stole 11 bases in the victory, constantly putting pressure on the defense.
Bombers Take Conference Opener Over Boone
Ballard opened conference play with a 6-4 win over Boone.
The Bombers scored in five different innings and received contributions throughout the lineup. Sid Farmer led the offense with two doubles and two RBIs, while Ben Clement, Ethan Rouse, and Bryce Miller each drove in a run.
Bowen Benedict turned in a strong performance on the mound, allowing three runs over six innings while striking out eight. Michael Wiechmann closed out the victory in relief.
Offensive Outburst Downs Grinnell
Ballard capped the week with a 10-4 victory over Grinnell.
The Bombers pounded out 11 hits and scored in five different innings while overcoming a 4-2 deficit.
Jack Plucar enjoyed a perfect 3-for-3 night with an RBI, while Ben Clement collected two hits and two RBIs. Evan Kinzenbaw drove in three runs, and Stetson Kane added another RBI.
Jake Clement scored three runs and reached base twice, helping ignite the offense from the top of the order.
On the mound, Michael Wiechmann earned the win in relief, while Bryce Miller and Stetson Kane combined to keep Grinnell's offense in check.
Team Effort Fueling Early Success
Several Bombers have emerged as key contributors during the team's 5-2 start.

Ballard enters the week with a 5-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play. The Bombers will look to continue their strong start when they host Carroll in a varsity doubleheader at 5:00 PM.
