Never Say Die Spirit Vaults Bombers To Win
Ballard Defeats North Polk 43-42
Trailing district rival North Polk 42-28 with 2:14 left in the game, the Ballard football team ripped off 15 consecutive points to defeat the Comets 43-42. Trailing 42-28, the Bombers would get a quick score to pull the deficit to 42-35. The Bombers would kick an onside kick and recover and quarterback Lucas Hartsook would find Jayden Cattell in the end zone to make the score 42-41. The Bombers elected to go for two to try to win the game. Eli Rouse would be set in the wildcat formation and take the ball to the left edge of the endzone to give the Bombers the lead. The Bomber's defense would hold for the final few seconds to secure the win.
Rouse carried the ball 37 times for 227 yards and four touchdowns. Hartsook was a modest 10 of 13 for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Bryce Haessig had four receptions for 20 yards. Cattell and Jacob Ihle each had a receiving touchdown.
Jayden Swain had 10 tackles on the night and Blake Stover had 9.5 tackles.
With the win, the Bombers improve to 3-4 (1-2) on the season.
The Bombers are back in action on Friday - October 15 when they travel to Algona. The game will start at 7:00 PM.
