Cubs Shut Out Bombers on Senior Night
Nevada Defeats Ballard 14-0
The Bombers fought hard under the lights on Senior Night but came up short against rival Nevada, falling 14–0 in front of a packed home crowd Friday evening.
Offensively, the Bombers moved the ball but struggled to finish drives. Quarterback Bryce Miller went 10-for-16 through the air for 92 yards, connecting most often with Easton Ersland, who hauled in five receptions for 50 yards. Brady Hillebrand added three catches for 31 yards. On the ground, Jack Plucar paced the rushing attack with 37 yards on seven carries, while senior Dillon Shoen added 25 yards.
The Bomber defense kept the game within reach, forcing Nevada to grind out possessions. Tanner Ruby led Ballard with 11 tackles, including 10 solo stops, while Shoen and Jake Clement each recorded 10 total tackles. The Bombers' defensive front also applied pressure, tallying four sacks and six tackles for loss, highlighted by big plays from Lewis Harms, Greysen Ehresman, and Dylon Marks. Senior Max Clark added an interception return for 10 yards to give Ballard a spark.
Special teams also contributed with a 17-yard punt return by Shoen and two kick returns totaling 37 yards from Aidan Wilson.
Despite the strong defensive effort, the Cubs capitalized on a pair of scoring drives that proved to be the difference.
Ballard (0–3) will look to bounce back next week when they host Humboldt on Friday, September 19, at 7:00 PM for Homecoming.
