Bombers Control Second Half to Defeat Bluejays
Ballard Defeats Bondurant-Farrar 30-14
Bondurant, IA — The Bomber football team closed out their final road district matchup in impressive fashion Friday night, using a dominant second-half defensive effort to knock off Bondurant-Farrar, 30–14.
After a 14–14 tie at halftime, the Bombers (2–6, 2–2) outscored the Bluejays 16–0 the rest of the way, locking down defensively and finding rhythm on the ground behind quarterback Bryce Miller.
Miller had a strong all-around performance, completing 17 of 21 passes (81%) for 181 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 48 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. His poise and efficiency kept the Bombers balanced offensively, as Ballard rolled up 203 rushing yards and 181 passing yards for the night.
Sophomore Kanen DeYoung and junior Blakely Carlson each caught touchdown passes, while senior Easton Ersland led all receivers with five receptions for 62 yards. The run game featured a steady rotation, with Jake Clement (56 yards) and Jack Plucar (51 yards) helping Ballard control the clock.
Defensively, the Bombers were relentless in the second half, forcing two interceptions and holding Bondurant-Farrar scoreless after halftime. Senior Dillon Shoen anchored the unit with a game-high 10 tackles, including a sack and tackle for loss, while Lewis Harms and Blake Brendeland also made key stops in the backfield. DeYoung and Shoen each added interceptions to seal the win.
On special teams, junior Aidan Wilson provided a spark with 83 kick return yards.
The victory marks Ballard's second district win of the season and their most complete performance to date. The Bombers will look to carry that momentum into their regular season finale when they host Carlisle on Friday, October 24, in Week 9 district action.
