Colvin Earns Medalist Honors as Ballard Wins Invite
Ballard Shoots A 299
AMES — The Ballard men's golf team delivered a commanding performance on its home course Tuesday, winning the Ballard Invitational with a team score of 299 — 21 strokes clear of runner-up ADM (320).
The Bombers showcased both top-end talent and lineup depth, placing four golfers inside the top 10 while comfortably distancing themselves from a competitive field that included Independence (325), Waverly-Shell Rock (332), and Nevada (333).
Sophomore Jamin Colvin led the way with an outstanding round of 69 (-3), earning medalist honors and setting the tone for Ballard from the opening holes. Colvin was the only golfer in the field to break par, separating himself with a consistent round that featured strong ball-striking and control throughout.
Ballard's scoring depth proved to be the difference. Senior Drake Hosteng and junior Parker Domino each carded rounds of 75 (+3), tying for third place and giving the Bombers two more top-five finishes. Junior Riley Dingel added an 80 (+8) to place eighth, rounding out the team's four scoring golfers.
Additional contributions came from Alex Weeks (81) and Rowan Josephson (84), both finishing inside the top 20 and reinforcing Ballard's overall depth across the lineup.
The Bombers' balanced scoring created significant separation from the rest of the field, as no other team placed more than one golfer inside the top five.
Earlham's Blaine Vanderheiden finished runner-up individually with a 74 (+2), while Independence's Dawson Fuelling tied for third alongside Hosteng and Domino at 75.
The Bombers will return to action Monday, April 27, when they host Winterset and Carlisle in a triangular meet beginning at 4:00 PM.
