Ballard's men's golf team claimed a tournament championship on Saturday at the Gilbert Tournament, firing a winning score of 290 at Ames Golf and Country Club. In a competitive field featuring several quality programs, Ballard separated itself at the top of the leaderboard with steady scoring across the lineup and secured the team title ahead of Des Moines Christian and the rest of the field.
Des Moines Christian Boys Golf finished runner-up at 302, while North Polk Boys Golf placed third at 307. Host Gilbert came in at 309, followed by Decorah and Knoxville, both at 313. Nevada and Newton each posted 314s, with Boone at 322 and Winterset at 325 rounding out the standings.
Jamin Colvin and Parker Domino led the way, each posting a 71 to finish tied for second individually and set the pace for the team. Jordan Domino and Alex Weeks both delivered consistent rounds of 74, tying for sixth place and strengthening Ballard's position at the top. Riley Dingel added a 76, while Drake Hosteng's 77 helped round out the scoring that secured the 290 total. Kolby Robinson (78) and Braden Skurdal (80) also provided key depth in the lineup.
The tournament was contested at Ames Golf and Country Club, where consistency and clean execution were essential across 18 holes.
With the win, Ballard builds momentum heading into the postseason push. The team will return to the same course for the Raccoon River Conference Meet at Ames Golf and Country Club on Monday at 9:00 AM, looking to carry its championship form into conference competition.
