Down to the Wire: Ballard Tennis Drops 6-5 Thriller
Ankeny Defeats Ballard 6-5
The Ballard men's tennis team opened its season with a tightly contested dual at Ankeny, falling just short in a 6–5 decision.
Ballard showed strong competitiveness throughout singles play, picking up three key victories. At No. 2 singles, Seth Hilleman earned a straight-sets win, 6-4, 6-3, setting the tone early for the Bombers. Zack Ross delivered one of the most exciting matches of the day at No. 4, battling through a three-set tiebreak to secure a 7-6, 5-7, 1-0 (7) victory. Chase Krogman added another point for Ballard with a solid 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 6.
In doubles action, Ballard continued to compete at a high level, earning two victories. The No. 2 doubles team of Easton Ersland and Ross came through with a 7-5, 7-6 (2) win in a tightly played match. At No. 3 doubles, Aksel Peterson and Johannes Nop helped lead Ballard to a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory.
