Singles and Doubles Success Lead Bombers Past Dutch
Ballard Defeats Pella 7-4
The Ballard men's tennis team picked up a 7-4 victory over Pella at home Monday, improving to 1-1 on the season.
In singles play, Ballard earned three wins. Easton Ersland battled Trevin Sutton for a nail-biting 6-3, 4-6, 14-12 victory, while Eli Preston defeated Ryker Jones 6-3, 6-3. Zack Ross earned a convincing 6-3, 6-1 win over Elias Fisher, contributing to the Bombers' singles points.
Pella's Brayden Van Horn, Corbin Van Dyke, and Daivik Patel had strong showings, picking up points for the visitors, but Ballard's depth carried the day.
On the doubles court, Ballard won four of five matches. Hilleman/Preston defeated Sutton/Van Horn 6-3, 7-5, Ersland/Ross handled Jones/Van Dyke 6-2, 6-3, Nop/Aksel Peterson won over E. Fisher/C.Fisher 7-6 (6), 7-6 (6), and Breken Fleischmann/Cameron Allen edged Johnson/Castle 6-4, 2-6, 10-8.
Ballard will look to continue its momentum Thursday - April 9 at Nevada in a triangular match with North Polk, starting at 4:00 PM.
