Duo Finishes Season
The Ballard doubles duo of Seth Hilleman and Easton Ersland represented the Bombers at the Class 1A State Individual Tournament, navigating a competitive bracket with a strong response after an opening-round setback and ultimately finishing their state run against one of the tournament's top pairs.
Ballard opened play against P. Stroh and B. Noland of Columbus Catholic (Waterloo), falling 6-0, 6-3 in a straight-set match that proved challenging from the start. The Bombers regrouped quickly in the consolation bracket, responding with one of their most complete performances of the tournament. Hilleman and Ersland controlled their second match, defeating R. Lawrence and M. Holmes of Shenandoah 6-2, 6-1 to secure a convincing rebound victory.
Their tournament run concluded against T. Sutton and B. Van Horn of Pella, where Ballard battled but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-4 in two closely contested sets. Despite the loss, the match remained tight throughout, with Ballard staying within reach in both sets against a disciplined Pella pairing.
