Men's Cross Country Gains Experience at Fort Dodge Invitational

The Ballard varsity men's cross country team continued its season with a strong effort against elite competition Thursday evening at the Fort Dodge Invitational, placing 24th in a deep 27-team field featuring many of the state's top programs.
Freshman Austin Vance led the Bombers with a time of 17:42.0, showing steady improvement and composure in a fast-paced race. Sophomore Parker Domino followed with a 18:18.8 finish, while classmate Isaac Swisher came through in 19:03.2.
Rounding out Ballard's varsity scoring were freshmen Ethan Johnson (19:33.6) and Owen Davidson (19:51.7). Evan Newman (19:54.0) and Daughtry Franks (20:05.2) provided additional depth to the Bombers' lineup.
Indianola captured the team title with 92 points, edging Dallas Center-Grimes and Johnston in a tight battle at the top.
The Bombers will look to build on their experience when they return to action on Monday, October 13, at the Raccoon River Conference Meet hosted by Bondurant-Farrar, beginning at 4:00 PM.
