Bombers Finish State Run With Victory
Fall To #2 Davenport Assumption 12-2 - Defeat #14 Sioux Center 8-1
The Ballard softball team finished their state softball tournament run going 1-1. The Bombers would fall to #2 Davenport Assumption 12-2 in the state quarterfinal. Jocie Hobbs provided the scoring by hitting a 2-run homer to give the Bombers an early 2-1 lead. The Knights would take advantage of Bomber errors and have some timely hits to take the victory.
In the state consolation, the Bombers defeated #14 Sioux Center 8-1 to finish the season at 17-21 (8-8).
Offensively, the Bombers connected four eight hits. Jada Lande led the way by smacking a pair of doubles and driving in three runners.
Ella Husak, Sam Vetter and Maggie Mortensen each doubled once for the Bombers. Husak was 2-for-4 with a run and a steal, Vetter 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and Mortensen 1-for-3 with two runs.
Jocie Hobbs finished 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, Kasey Larson hit a single and Payton Askelsen stole a base and scored a run.
