Women’s Basketball Tops Bluejays in Conference Battle
Ballard Defeats Bondurant-Farrar 52-43
The Ballard Bombers women's basketball team earned a crucial Raccoon River Conference victory on Friday night, defeating Bondurant-Farrar 52-43 on the road. Ballard set the tone early, dominating the first quarter with a 14-1 run before the Bluejays responded with an 18-point second quarter to tighten the game. The Bombers maintained their composure in the second half, outscoring Bondurant-Farrar 27-24 to seal the win.
Senior Raegan Loewe led the Bombers with an outstanding performance, scoring 25 points on 47.4% shooting from the field and converting 7-of-10 free throws. Loewe also added four rebounds and a block. Freshman Olivia Wacha contributed significantly on both ends of the floor, scoring 10 points on 60% shooting, grabbing five rebounds, and recording seven steals. Fellow freshman Kaylor Johnson added eight points and led the team with five rebounds, while Maci Harder chipped in with three points and four rebounds.
Ballard's defensive effort and balanced scoring proved key to holding off the Bluejays, who surged in the second quarter but couldn't sustain the momentum. With the win, the Bombers improve to 3-10 overall and 2-7 in conference play. They'll look to build on this performance when they face RRC opponent Boone on Tuesday, January 21, at 6:00 PM.
