Bombers Fall to #11 Tigers in RRC Matchup
#11 Carroll Defeats Ballard 57-34
The Ballard women's basketball team traveled to face Raccoon River Conference opponent #11 Carroll on Friday night but struggled to keep pace, falling 57-34. Despite a competitive effort, a strong fourth quarter from Carroll sealed the outcome.
Senior Raegan Loewe led Ballard with 19 points, including three three-pointers and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Freshman Kaylor Johnson battled inside, grabbing a team-high eight rebounds while adding seven points. Olivia Wacha contributed five points and three steals, while sophomore Raya Miller pulled down seven rebounds.
Carroll set the tone early, outscoring Ballard 16-9 in the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the game. The Bombers worked to keep the gap manageable, but a 20-point fourth quarter from the Tigers proved too much to overcome.
With the loss, Ballard moves to 5-14 on the season (4-11 in conference play). Up next, the Bombers face another tough test as they travel to No. 3 Waukee Northwest on Tuesday, February 11, for a 5:30 PM tip-off.
