Women’s Basketball Battles Tigers at Home
ADM Defeats Ballard 46-39
The Ballard women's basketball team hosted ADM on Friday night in the Hangar and turned in a competitive performance before dropping a 46–39 decision.
The contest was tightly played from the opening quarter, with both teams finishing the first period tied at 13–13. Defense dictated much of the first half, as each team scored just seven points in the second quarter, sending the game into halftime even at 20–20. ADM edged ahead in the third quarter, outscoring Ballard 8–4, and then used an 18-point fourth quarter to pull away late.
Ballard was led by Kaylor Johnson, who recorded a double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds, anchoring the Bombers on both ends of the floor. Grace Polewik added 9 points, while Grace Grundmeyer contributed 6 points and connected on two three-pointers. Avilee Miller provided an efficient scoring lift off the bench, finishing with 5 points.
Defensively, Ballard stayed engaged throughout the night, contesting shots and limiting second-chance opportunities. Despite multiple runs by the Bombers, ADM's scoring in the final quarter proved to be the difference.
With the loss, Ballard's women's basketball team moves to 1–7 overall and 1–4 in conference play.
The Bombers return to action on Friday, January 2, hosting Raccoon River Conference opponent Gilbert at 1:00 PM in the Hangar.
