Bombers Come Up Short in RRC Home Game
Bondurant-Farrar Defeats Ballard 49-41
The Ballard women's basketball team hosted Raccoon River Conference opponent Bondurant-Farrar on Friday night in the Hangar, battling through four quarters before falling 49–41.
Bondurant-Farrar jumped out to an early advantage, taking a 13–7 lead after the opening quarter. Ballard responded with improved offensive execution in the second period, outscoring the Bluejays 12–7 to pull within one possession at halftime, trailing 20–19.
The third quarter proved to be the turning point, as Bondurant-Farrar found success pushing the tempo and scoring 16 points to reestablish separation. Ballard matched the physicality and stayed competitive, adding 15 points of its own, but entered the final quarter down 36–34.
In the fourth, Ballard continued to battle defensively, but Bondurant-Farrar closed the game at the free-throw line and limited scoring opportunities, outscoring the Bombers 13–7 over the final eight minutes to secure the conference win.
With the loss, Ballard moves to 3–10 overall and 3–6 in RRC play.
The Bombers will look to rebound quickly, returning to action on Saturday, January 17, when they host a non-conference matchup against Nevada. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:30 PM in the Hangar.
