Bombers Earn Convincing Win Over Tigers
Ballard Defeats Carroll 59-18
The Ballard women's basketball team put together a complete performance Friday night, pulling away early and never looking back in a 59–18 home win over Carroll.
Ballard set the tone from the opening tip, holding Carroll to just three points in the first quarter while building a 10–3 lead. The Bombers continued to apply pressure on both ends of the floor in the second quarter, outscoring the Tigers 16–4 to take a commanding 26–7 advantage into halftime.
Any doubt was erased coming out of the locker room as Ballard delivered its most productive quarter of the night. The Bombers poured in 22 third-quarter points while limiting Carroll to four, stretching the lead to 48–11. With the outcome well in hand, Ballard closed the game with an 11–7 fourth quarter to seal the 41-point victory.
Sophomore Kaylor Johnson led the way offensively, scoring a team-high 13 points while controlling the paint with eight rebounds and two blocks. Sophomore Maci Harder added 11 points and four steals, showcasing Ballard's defensive intensity. Freshman Grace Polewik chipped in six points, while juniors Raya Miller and Grace Grundmeyer combined for 11 points.
Ballard shot an efficient 52.3 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 34–22. The Bombers' defense forced turnovers and limited Carroll to just 18 points on the night, including single-digit scoring in every quarter.
With the win, Ballard moves to 7–13 overall and 6–9 in conference play.
The Bombers will wrap up the regular season on Thursday, February 13, traveling to Winterset for a 6:00 PM tip in the Raccoon River Conference finale and season finale.
