Men’s Wrestling Edges Huskies in Thrilling 42–41 Dual
Ballard Defeats Winterset 42-41
The Ballard men's wrestling team earned a hard-fought 42–41 victory over Winterset in a tightly contested dual that came down to bonus points and pivotal pins throughout the lineup.
Ballard built momentum early in the middle weights. Lincoln Engleman (175) set the tone with a fall at 2:48, followed quickly by Greyson Ehresman (190), who secured a pin just 1:19 into his match. Leif Jorgensen added six more team points at 215 pounds with a forfeit, giving Ballard a critical stretch of scoring.
Winterset answered with wins at heavyweight and the lower weights, including a fall from Maxwell Landers at 285 and additional points at 106, 113, 120, and 126 pounds to keep the dual close.
Ballard responded in the upper-middle portion of the lineup. Nolan Adams delivered a key result at 132 pounds, earning a fall at the six-minute mark. Easton Enyeart followed with a forfeit win at 138 to swing momentum back in Ballard's favor.
The final stretch proved decisive. Caleb Hyman (150) and Carter Jeffs (157) each recorded falls for Ballard, providing the bonus points necessary to overcome Winterset's victories at 144 and earlier weights. Those pins ultimately secured the one-point team victory.
With the win, Ballard improves to 2–4 overall and 2–2 in conference action.
Ballard will be back on the mat Saturday, December 20, when they compete at the Waukee Northwest Tournament beginning at 10:00 AM.
