Bombers Battle Dutch On The Courts
Pella Defeats Ballard 9-2
The Ballard women's tennis team hit the road Tuesday to take on Pella, coming away with valuable experience and a pair of strong wins in doubles competition.
In singles action, the Bombers fought hard but dropped all six matches to a talented Dutch lineup. Senior Siene Roush came closest to forcing a third set, falling 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.
Ballard regrouped in doubles, where they earned two victories. At No. 3 doubles, the duo of Anja Tjernagel and Kenna Zimmerman secured a 6-2, 7-5 win. The Bombers followed that with a thrilling three-set victory at No. 4 doubles, as Siene Roush and Mia Schonhorst battled back for a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) win in a super tiebreaker.
Pella ultimately claimed the dual by a 9-2 margin.
The result moves Ballard's record to 5-4 on the season.
Up next, the Bombers return home on Wednesday, September 4, to host Saydel at 4:00 PM for Senior Night.
