Tennis Edges Eagles on Senior Night
Ballard Defeats Saydel 5-4
The Ballard women's tennis team pulled off a dramatic 5-4 victory over Saydel on Thursday night, giving the Bombers a memorable Senior Night win.
The evening featured tightly contested singles matches from start to finish. Addy Agena battled hard at the top spot but fell to Saydel's Lizzy Nicholson, while Zoe Wilson answered back with a decisive 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2. Anja Tjernagel dropped her match at No. 3, but Siene Roush quickly evened things with a straight-set win at No. 4.
The longest singles match of the night came at No. 5, where Reagan Remsburg fought through three grueling sets. After winning a dramatic 13-11 tiebreaker in the first set and falling 0-6 in the second, she nearly completed the comeback before falling just short in a 14-12 third-set breaker. At No. 6, Josie Oldenkamp delivered a flawless performance, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 win to knot the team score at 3-3 heading into doubles play.
With the match on the line, Ballard's doubles teams came through under pressure. Agena and Wilson powered to a straight-set win at the top spot, while Remsburg and Oldenkamp were edged in a hard-fought three-setter at No. 2. The deciding point came from the No. 3 duo of Tjernagel and Kenna Zimmerman, who dominated their match 6-1, 6-0 to seal the 5-4 team victory.
The win improves Ballard's record to 6-4 on the season.
