Toreadors Too Strong for Bombers on the Courts
Boone Defeats Ballard 10-1
The Ballard Bombers women's tennis team fell on the road Thursday evening, dropping a 10–1 decision to Boone.
Boone swept through singles action, winning all six matches in straight sets. Addy Agena battled at the top spot but came up short against Boone's Kaylee Kuehl, 6–0, 6–1. Zoe Wilson, Anja Tjernagel, Siene Roush, Reagan Remsburg, and Josie Oldenkamp also faced tough opponents as Boone secured a commanding lead heading into doubles.
In doubles play, Boone continued its strong performance, winning four of five matchups. Ballard's lone victory came at the No. 5 doubles spot, where Madeline Schonhorst and Maci Harder teamed up to defeat Halle Bailey and Sarah Owen, 6–0, 6–3, earning the Bombers their only point of the night.
Despite the setback, Ballard (8–5) remains above .500 on the season and will look to regroup heading into postseason play.
The Bombers are scheduled to compete next at the Individual State Qualifier in Boone on Wednesday, September 17, at 9:00 AM.
