Comments From Women's Head Coach Scott Barth:
"It was a fun night on the track tonight with the girls taking home the championship at our home meet. I thought that we had a good chance at winning this meet and the girls came through with some good performances on a windy night. The key to the victory was having multiple high placers in the individual events which put us over the top.
Our winners on the night were Kasey Larson in the high jump with a clearance of 4-10.00. The 4x800 followed with a commanding victory with a season best time (by 15 seconds) with a team of Paityn Noe, Brynn Wilson, Annika Larson and Ava Richardson. The shuttle hurdle added another gold on the night placing first with the team of Noel Boettger, Reagan Bartlett, Anya Jorgensen and Ally Baker in a time of 1:14.10. Ally Baker won the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.66. Ava Richardson had a great kick on the homestretch to win the 800 meters in a time of 2:35.95. Paityn Noe closed out our gold medalists on the night with a big victory in the 1500 meters in a time of 4:40.49. That gave us 7 first place finishes on the night and a great start in the score column.
Like I said, we did have lots of other placewinners which gave us the trophy on the night. Other top 4 places were Nora Loveland in the long jump (3rd) , Ava Vance in the 3000 meters (2nd) , Noel Boettger in the 100 and 200 meter events (2nd), the distance medley relay team of Nora Loveland, Jada Lande, Katie Tollefson and Brenna Baumgardnerr (3rd), the sprint medley relay team of Nora Loveland, Jada Lande, Katie Tollefson and Kate Miller (4th), Brenna Baumgardner in the 800 meters (4th), Brynn Wilson and Anya Jorgensen in the 400 hurdles (3rd and 4th), Annika Larson in the 1500 meters (2nd) and the 4x400 meter relay of Noel Boettger, Ava Richardson, Kate Miller and Katie Tollefson (2nd).
I am pleased with the progress that we are making in our competitiveness as a team. We are showing growth in our performances as we hit the midpoint of the season. Getting the championship at our home meet meant a lot to the girls and it proved that we are developing as a program to a point where we can win meets. I am very proud of these athletes. We will put in some work at practices the rest of this week before hitting a busy week next week with meets at Saydel on Monday and Van Meter on Thursday."
