Wrestling Competes at Woodward-Granger and Newton Tournaments
Ballard Finishes 8th and 7th
The Ballard women's wrestling team traveled to Woodward-Granger on Friday and Newton on Saturday for back-to-back tournaments.
At the Woodward-Granger Tournament, Ballard placed 8th out of 10 teams, scoring 51.5 points. Kacey Smith (115 lbs) and Emarie Pearson (120 lbs) each placed 7th, contributing key points for the Bombers. Evelyn Faubus (125 lbs) had a standout performance, placing 3rd with 17 team points, winning multiple matches by fall and injury default. Kara Moos (135 lbs) finished 6th with 10 points, while Kentley Wierson (140 lbs) added 3 points in a solid 4th place showing. Other scorers included Charlee Neer (130 lbs, 7th), Amalia Olson (145 lbs, 7th), and Valentina Gutierres (190 lbs, 3rd). Harper Coppock (125 lbs) and Alayna Bowman (135 lbs) also gained valuable experience throughout the day.
The following day, at the Newton Girls Cardinal Classic, Ballard improved its team performance, finishing 7th with 95.5 points. Evelyn Faubus led the way with an impressive 1st place finish at 125 lbs, racking up 27.5 team points with multiple pins and a tech fall. Sadie Ruby (155 lbs) placed 2nd, contributing 22 points, while Harper Coppock (125 lbs) earned 5th place. Other strong performances included Felicity Sharp (140 lbs, 5th), Kara Moos (135 lbs, 5th), Kacey Smith (115 lbs, 6th), Kentley Wierson (140 lbs, 6th), Esther Wilson (130 lbs, 6th), Charlee Neer (130 lbs, 8th), Valentina Gutierres (190 lbs, 5th), and Alayna Bowman (135 lbs, 7th).
The Bombers will continue their season at the Saydel Tournament on Friday, December 12, beginning at 10:00 AM.
